Mates has its own profile with a unique username, your own bio and your own photos. Dating details never appear here, and friends can find you by searching your username.
Activities & hangouts
Post a hangout with a time, a place, a suburb and up to five tags — or join one nearby. Keep it friends-only or put it on the wall for anyone to request.
Groups & communities
Find a crew built around an interest and a suburb, ranked by how much it overlaps with your tags. Join public groups, or keep a private one for your own circle.
Play games
Jump into a quick game, or host a lobby with a start time and a player cap. Games are a low-pressure way to meet people before you commit to a coffee.
Local deals
Partner offers at local venues, filtered for hangouts. Turn a deal straight into a plan and show the code when you get there.
No limits
Make as many friends as you want.
Mates deliberately doesn't inherit the dating rules. Friendships aren't a queue, so nothing expires and nothing is capped.

Mates supports both quick games and hosted games. Quick drops you into whatever's filling up. Hosted lets you set it up properly — and opening a lobby just lets you look around. You only sit down when you tap Join game.

Quick games
Pick a game and we'll put you in a lobby that's filling up. Round counts are fixed so nothing drags on.
Hosted games
Host a lobby with a start time, a minimum and maximum number of players, and a distance limit. Tap a lobby to look at it, then Join game when you're in.

Verified public group creators
Creating a public community group requires identity verification. Private groups are open to everyone.
Report & block
Report a profile, a chat, a game answer or a group. Group reports go to that group's lead and admins as well as us.
Emergency contact & fake call
Save someone you trust and trigger a realistic fake incoming call if you want an easy exit.
Photo blur
Blur profile and chat photos until you tap, for extra control.

Hangouts and activities are designed around real venues, with optional venue check-in when you arrive.
Community moderation
Group leads and admins moderate their own communities, and accounts can be restricted from games or the platform.
