One Dollar Date
Features & safety

Dates, mates, and double dates — one login, clearer intent.

A$1 a month when we launch. Rolling out across Australia — discover people, hang with friends, or go out as a duo — with check-ins, consent, and an escape hatch when a meetup gets weird.

Dating with a compatibility quiz, ranked matches, and a 3-chat cap so conversations stay real.

Pretend you’re already in the app

Open the full demo in your browser — pick Dates or Mates, swipe Discover, fill in the compatibility quiz, browse hangouts, or try the fake call escape. No account, no sign-in. Sample data only.

Tell us what matters. We’ll actually use it.

Answer as much as you want — more answers mean better Dates matches. Tick “this is very important to me” on the ones that really count. Save and continue later; jump to a section and you’ll land on the next unanswered question.

  • Partner prompt defaults to your answer — change it if you want
  • Important answers weigh much more in ranking
  • Skip a question, or skip the rest and come back from Profile

Ranked live from people you haven’t swiped yet.

On Dates, Best matches for you sits at the top of Matches. Distance is part of the ranking, and the quiz is how we actually match people. It isn’t in Mates or Double Dates — those modes are for friends and duos, not a dating leaderboard.

  • Liked you, Matches, and Favourites stay in the other tabs
  • Verified-only and a real Dates/Mates profile apply here too
  • Dates matches close after 48 hours if nobody messages

Message in two days, or the Dates match closes.

New Dates matches show a countdown on the match card, chat list, and chat header. Either of you sending a real message cancels it. If nobody writes in 48 hours, both sides unmatch — even if the phones are closed.

  • Reminders at 24 hours, 6 hours, and 1 hour left
  • Expiry ping: this match closed because nobody messaged
  • Mates friends are not on this timer

Text, one photo, links — Dates and Mates stay separate.

Each profile has a 30-day feed. Tap a YouTube or web preview and it opens in the app. You can still jump to Safari. The owner can reply and delete other people’s replies.

  • One photo per post, plus optional link preview
  • In-app browser so video can play inside the app
  • Questionnaires stay on Dates only — not on Mates

Invite from chat. They set their own safety.

From the chat ⚙ menu, ask them out with time, place, and a note. They see the invite in chat — not your emergency contact — then accept and choose their own reminders.

  • Comment box on the invite
  • “X asked you on a date” banner in chat
  • Accept → your check-ins & emergency contact only

Check-ins, stop reminders, get me out of here

Optional reminders while you’re out. Miss a vibe? Stop reminders — or tap Get me out of here for a fake incoming call with ringtone so you can exit gracefully.

  • 5-minute test reminders for practice
  • Stop reminders from the check-in popup
  • Fake call screen — nobody is actually dialled

Swipe nearby. Cap at 3 open dating matches.

Discover people, check who’s here at a venue, save favourites (they leave Liked you when you star them). Dating stays capped at 3 open matches so chats stay real.

Both people opt in before chat unlocks

Matching isn’t an open inbox by default. Each person taps Let’s chat — messages stay undelivered until both sides are in.

  • Mutual opt-in to open chat
  • Fewer unwanted openers
  • Clearer consent from the start

Emergency contact + optional location ping

Heading out? Save an emergency contact and share a check-in when you want backup — without turning the whole app into constant GPS tracking.

  • Emergency contact on file
  • Share a location ping when you choose
  • Built for real-world meetups

Blur other people’s photos until you tap.

Account settings has two toggles, both off until you turn them on: profile photos (Discover, profiles, feeds, groups) and chat photos. Disappearing photos stay tap-to-view-once. Fake call lets you set the caller name, photo, and a ringtone file you own.

  • Tap to unblur for that viewing
  • Chat blur never replaces disappearing-photo rules
  • iOS won’t let apps read the Settings ringtone library

Verify with ID + a quick hand-reveal video

Members can submit a selfie with government ID and a short hand-reveal clip for review — so profiles feel more real before you invest time.

  • Photo + video verification flow
  • Human review before approval
  • Verified badge on profiles that pass

Report & block with chat context saved

If something feels wrong, report it fast. We keep a chat snapshot for moderation so you’re not stuck explaining a deleted thread from memory.

  • Clear report reasons
  • Block in the same flow
  • Group reports land with the group’s lead and admins

We don’t sell your personal information. Read the full Privacy Policy.

Partner offers

Optional venue check-in to see people at the same place — without always-on GPS.
